We Know Baltimore Homes

Baltimore City’s housing stock is defined by the rowhouse. The brick and formstone facades running block after block through Canton, Fells Point, Hampden, Charles Village, and Federal Hill present a specific door replacement challenge: original door frames built into masonry openings that have settled over 100 years. Standard pre-hung door units often do not fit correctly in these openings. Improper sizing creates air gaps at the frame, water infiltration at the threshold, and a finished appearance that looks wrong against the character of the block.
We measure the actual opening before we quote. In a 1920s Canton rowhome or a Federal Hill townhouse, the opening dimensions matter more than the catalog size.

Mt. Washington, Roland Park, and Guilford carry larger single-family homes built through the early 20th century. Entry doors in these neighborhoods are often original to the home or were replaced once in the postwar era with hollow-core units that have long since failed at the frame. Homeowners here typically want a door that matches the architectural character of the home while sealing properly and performing year-round.
Towson and the communities along the Baltimore County line carry mid-century colonials and splits where the primary door issue is warping and seal failure in older steel entry doors that have been exposed to Baltimore’s humid summers and cold winters for 30 to 40 years.

Baltimore’s climate puts doors under sustained stress. Summers deliver humidity above 70 percent that swells wood frames and degrades weatherstripping. Winters bring freeze-thaw cycles that pull door frames away from masonry surrounds and crack older threshold seals. A door that fits correctly and seals tightly when installed will hold up. One that does not will fail within a few seasons regardless of the quality of the door itself.
Every door installation we do in Baltimore is handled by our own in-house licensed team. No subcontractors. 20% OFF Doors with installation included. Price match guarantee on every job.

Door Replacement Baltimore MD — Exterior Doors, Entry Doors & Interior Doors

Why Replace Your Doors? Improve Energy Efficiency, Security & Curb Appeal

Baltimore’s door replacement triggers are specific to the city’s housing type and urban climate conditions.

Save on Energy Bills

Rowhome entry doors take more punishment than any other configuration A street-facing rowhome entry door in Canton, Hampden, or Federal Hill has no setback, no overhang, and no protection from Baltimore’s urban humidity and winter cold. Frame deterioration, weatherstrip failure, and seal breakdown happen faster in this configuration than in any suburban housing type in our service area.

Make Your Home More Comfortable

Non-standard rowhome openings require custom sizing Pre-war and early post-war rowhomes across Baltimore City were built with door openings sized to the architectural standards of their era. Many of those dimensions do not correspond to anything available off the shelf today. Forcing a standard door into a non-standard opening leaves air gaps, compromises the thermal seal, and produces a poor finished appearance on a street-facing property.

Boost Your Curb Appeal

Freeze-thaw cycles accelerate failure in urban rowhome frames Maryland winters put repeated thermal stress on door frames that Baltimore’s year-round humidity has already weakened. A door that is sticking or drafty in November will be significantly worse by March, and repair at that stage costs more than replacement.

Make Your Home Safer

Security is a primary driver in Baltimore City Original and aging entry doors in Baltimore’s rowhome stock were not built to current security specifications. Frame reinforcement, multi-point locking hardware, and a correctly fitted exterior door are direct and immediate upgrades to the physical security of any Baltimore City home.

Let us help you transform your home with energy efficient, beautiful, and secure doors—installed by a trusted local team with decades of expertise.

Yes. We have installed and replaced doors in Baltimore homes across Mount Washington, Federal Hill, Fells Point, Canton, Mount Vernon, and Hampden. From century old rowhomes near Fort McHenry to newer builds in Canton, our team has worked across every property type Baltimore has to offer.

Baltimore homeowners most commonly replace entry doors, storm doors, and sliding glass doors. Older rowhomes in neighborhoods like Fells Point and Federal Hill often have original door frames that have warped or rotted over time due to Baltimore’s humid summers and cold winters. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends replacing poorly sealed doors to improve home energy performance.

Many Baltimore rowhomes, particularly in Hampden, Mount Vernon, and Fells Point, have non-standard door openings built into the original structure. We source and install custom sized doors that fit these openings precisely without altering the existing frame or the character of the home.

Most door installations in Baltimore are completed in a single day. Our in-house team works efficiently and cleanly, minimizing disruption to your home and your daily routine from start to finish.

Which Neighborhoods in Baltimore Do We Serve?

Maryland Windows and Doors serves homeowners throughout Baltimore City and the surrounding communities. Our team has installed and replaced doors in Baltimore neighborhoods for decades, and we understand the mix of historic rowhomes, Federal Hill townhouses, and newer builds that make this city unique.
We install doors across Mount Washington, Federal Hill, Fells Point, Canton, Mount Vernon, and Hampden. Each of these neighborhoods has its own home styles, age ranges, and door requirements. A century old rowhome in Fells Point needs a very different approach than a newer build in Canton, and our team adjusts to fit every job precisely.

Homes near Inner Harbor and Fort McHenry deal with higher humidity and coastal air that wears down door frames and seals faster than inland properties. We factor that into every installation, making sure your new door is fitted and sealed to handle Baltimore’s climate year after year.
Properties near the Baltimore Museum of Art and Lexington Market sit in some of Baltimore’s most established residential corridors, where curb appeal and architectural character matter. We help homeowners in these areas choose door styles that complement the look of their home while delivering better energy performance and security.

We serve homeowners across Baltimore City ZIP codes 21201, 21202, 21205, 21211, 21212, 21218, and 21224. We also serve nearby communities in Baltimore County including Towson, Essex, and Lutherville.

No matter which part of Baltimore you are in, our team knows your neighborhood and is ready to help.
